I replaced the entire front steering, suspension, brakes, calibers, ABS sensors , rotors, along with new tires and a front end alignment on my 95 blazer. When I am driving about 40mph, and apply the brakes to stop, the front end feels likes it shimmying. I checked the suspension and steering and there is no play whatsoever, and the truck steers straight. Can anyone give me ideas of what could be causing this shimmying. There are no codes and the abs light is NOT on. The symptom appears like its a warped rotors.

Does the steering wheel pulsate with the shimmy? Does it only do it with the brakes applied?

 

it's most likely a warped rotor

 

Did you over tighten the bearings? (if its 2wd)? They may be locking up and causing a vibration. you only hand tighten the nut.

(random idea,im probably wrong).

 

Thanks for the rerplies... The viberation only occurs when I apply the brakes.. All parts replaced is torqued to specs.. I put less then 100 miles on the car since I replaced everything. It passed state inspection with flying colors. It does not occur to be an ABS problem. The rotor is new and so is the calibers. This may sound like a dumb question, but can someone explain to on how to determine that the rotor is warped, or if the caliber is bad?

To check the rotor you will need a dial indicator to check run-out as you turn the wheel. You can get a cheap one at Harbor Freight Tools; you will also need a mag mount...again Harbor Freight.

As far as the caliper, you could try having someone else apply the brakes and then use feeler gauges to measure any gap/difference between pad and rotor or between pad and pistons and compare between the two and between left and right sides. There are two pistons in the front calipers, but only one in the rear.

I had a 95....it was purple.....we called it Barney.....at 234k miles I sold it with the following problems: leaking trans rear seal, AC compessor out, driver's door window motor would not work at cold temps, and something else I have forgotten now.

Take them back to the man (woman) you got them from and tell them one is warped. You want two new ones. They will send them back. I am guessing you purchased them locale do to high shipping costs on them.
