Default Brake warning light

A few months ago, I had a rear brake hose go bad and dumped all the brake fluid on my wife's 2001 Blazer/Trailblazer. I replaced the hose, and also the caliper at the same time. I had a hell of a time getting it bled out, but finally got a good, firm pedal. However, the brake warning light (not the ABS light, but the light that comes on with the park brake) never went out. It's still on months later. On non-abs cars, there was a switch on the proportioning valve that you could push on and reset it to make the light go out. Inspection is coming up next month and I need to figure out how to make the light go out, but haven't been able to find much information. Any help would be appreciated!

More than likely there is still air trapped in the system, probably in the rear hydraulic circuit. If there is air trapped in the ABS unit, this might take care of the problem. You'll need to gravity bleed the rears: Remove the master cover and top off the fluid. Open one of the rear bleeders. Let it drain until no bubbles exit the bleeder. This might take 10 minutes or longer, be patient. Fluid needs to make its way from the master, through the ABS unit, line to the rear, and the caliper. During the bleed, do not apply the brake pedal, and do not allow the master to run low on fluid. When no more bubbles exit the bleeder, close it. Top off the master, install the cover. Have an assistant apply constant pressure to the pedal, don't pump it. Quickly open & close the bleeder. If air exited, try in one more time. Usually only takes once, twice at the most. Pedal should now be firm. Apply a quick, firm, jab & release to the pedal, and the centering valve should turn the light off. Post your results, and we can continue if necessary.

Where is the centering valve located?

On your 2001, it is part of the EBCM. Two wires attached to the centering valve: Purple comes from the EBCM, and black goes to ground.
