Brakes and rotors question
I took my car into a shop today because my brakes were whining and a few other things. When i finally recieved a call reguarding my car i was told pads and rotors on all four tires needed to be replaced and it would cost me 450 dollars plus tax. I told the shop i would pick my car up in the morning because i dont have that kind of money right now. So i was wondering what should i look for to see if my rotors need to be changed and what would be a good set to get for front and back set ups. Thanks for any and all help.
i would ask the shop why they think your rotors are bad(warped, too thin, etc) if they are just warped you might be able to get them turned. if you do end up having to replace pads and rotors i would recomend Bembo pads and rotors i recently replaced my front rotors and pad with Brembo's and i have been very pleased they have much more bite and stopping power compared to the stockers.
When i picked it up today he said there was a bit of rust and they were a little thin. He said that if i do the job myself to not spend the money to change them. He just said as a mechanic he couldnt do the pads and not the rotors for liability purposes. So im just gonna pick up pads and switch them out this weekend. Thanks for the replys, they were very helpful.
