Hello,
Well now besides my AWD being grabby it seems the trans started acting up more today...
Here are the symptoms....
About a week ago taking a two hour ride I noticed in traffic it started to get a little clunky in first gear, kind of shifting harsh in stop and go traffic.Once it cooled down(Engine temp was fine) it shifted fine.
Then yesterday I noticed a little surge at about 2,000rpm's in traffic and the check engine light came on(All fluids are good)...
Now this evening I headed out and it is acting like a dog off the line feels like it is slipping once rolling ok.On the way home I don't think it is down shifting under load now either.Backing into the driveway reverse was slipping before engaging(1st time it has done that)...I smelled after getting out of the thing almost a melting plastic smell for lack of a better description....
Am I witnessing my tranny about to grenade?
Make any sense to anyone?

Does anyone know how many hours to swap out a transmission in a 2000 Bravada and or how many hours to rebuild a trans in the same.
I got a crazy or what I think is crazy quote today for a junk yard versus rebuilt. Both well over $2,000-
WTF I had my Ford rebuilt with torque converter and full Warr for $1,500 a couple years ago????

you really should spend a hour looking through my old posts, it will save you time and money.
i am on the fourth trans in my truck, lol
i spent 75$ on a u-pull it trans - got about ~8000 miles outa it.
spent 1600$ to have the original(when i bought the truck) HD tranny rebuilt.
got burnt/scamed/whatever
spent another $700 to have all the steel hardparts removed from that trans and put in the junkyards trans and rebuilt.
EDIT: oh yah and swaping the trans isnt that big a deal IF YOU HAVE THE TOOLS!!! if u dont, well... its a nightmare, lol i could swap one in my sleep now though!
so in total i spent about 2400$ because i didnt get EXACTLY what the mechanic was doing IN WRITING!!!
lesson learned.
Im suspecting you have either ground or electrical issues though, maybe even a burn up BCM/TCM/whatever. take it to a free battery testing place and have em test your trucks electrical system under load. make sure your alt is keeping up with the system, these trucks go nutz when the ECU is underpowered. and also keep inmind if it is an electrical problem then YOU ARE CHEWING UP YOUR TRANS till you get it fixed, any damage done is permanent to a trannys guts (experts dont scald me im being vague I know).
read through my bull so u save yourself some, take it to a reputable (with the BBB) tranny mech.

Thank You for the heads up....I have since gotten prices from $1,600 up rebuilt installed, the $3500 is the highest so far.lol
I myself don't have the time or a garage to dick with it and the days of laying on my back in the gravel are long over...I do have the tools and know how just not the other...Thats why I was having such a hard time with the $3,500 etsimate...

Found a local shop to do the labor, turned out to be $611 with fluid etc... I found a guy who rebuilds transmissions as a side line out of his home shop(Used to do it full time, needed a job with benefits). Rebuilt kit; new clutches, seals bearings etc everything inspected for cracks etc $450 with core. So for $1,100 I have my truck back and running great...All in two days time. and four hours of my running around.
