Default Buying a 2nd Gen Blazer

Im new here and Im in the market for a 2nd Gen Blazer. I want a 4dr, 4x4. What should I look for, i.e. best production years, etc? What should I look out for when test driving these things? What are the most common problems do the trucks have? How reliable is the 4wd? After searching these forums, the 4wd seems the most problematic. Thanks in advance.

Do a radiator compression test and check the ball joints. I would not but a Blazer without doing those items. A check to see how well it was maintained is to check the 13 zerk fittings in the front end. If they are lubed it MIGHT mean the truck has had competant maintenance. If they are full of dirt, means they have to be used in many moons and the truck may of been mis maintained. There are a lot of Blazers for sale, I suggest you take your time, find a lower mileage truck and especially from the south, the rusted brake lines are tough to replace.

The safest bet would probably be to get a late year production '02 through the '05. Those will have the latest update to the fuel injection system.
