If you have 500 PSI on the high side you have a problem & the system is shutting down rather than blowing up. You must have a restriction. You need to check everything to assure you have cleared the restriction. Sounds like the instructor you talked with was right if he looked at it or not. Your lucky you didn't blow a hose @ 500 PSI on the high side.
