A/C & Engine Problems...
On a HOT, humid day my 2000 v/6 Blazer a/c quit working (works only intermittently) and also the engine would stop running when accelerating from a stop, but would restart ok. The a/c still worked only when rpm's were over 1000 or at hiway speeds. Then later the same day engine became real sluggish on acceleration and the check engine soon lite came on at that point and has stayed on. Engine still stops coming away from a stop sign or red lite sometimes when accelerating fairly hard. Could there be any connection between the a/c acting up and the apparent fuel problem or just a coincidence, two different problems started occurring at approx the same time. fuel pump? fuel filter? low freon? All guages and fluid levels are normal, all belts ok, but check engine lite stays on. Any thoughts on this would be helpful. No free code checks around here like Auto Zone, the shops all want big $$$ just to do code check. EZ money in their pockets, I guess.

You need to get the code read. Your truck is trying to tell you whats wrong. Guessing at the problem could waste time & money.
As far as the A/C issue, it likely is completely separate, but caused by the same condition, heat. If your A/C system was hitting the high pressure limit due to the heat or a somewhat restricted condenser (dirty from bugs & road debris) which results in the compressor clutch unlocking to prevent damage to the system. There could be other problems, but again, these things need to be diagnosed properly and most DIY'ers do not have the tooling required to do so.

My 98 blazer started acting up one day, sluggish from stops, stalled, sputtered, backfired, etc. I was getting a P0300 or something, "random misfire" (free code reading is nice, but I could hear it misfiring). AC problem is likely something else, my AC turns on and off at random. I found my engine problem to be a fried distributor cap and it took out plugs and wires too. The cap is an easy enough thing to investigate. If your truck runs worse the more it is running, try checking those things.
If you replace the cap, rotor, & plugs, remember this. These engines prefer AC Delco caps & rotors and AC Delco double platinum plugs.
On the plugs, a quality double platinum or premium iridium plug will work quite well. NGK, Denso, & AC Delco are the brands I would recommend on plugs, but if going to iridium, remember that there are the regular iridiums which are like regular platinums in that they still have a nickel coated ground strap. The premium iridium plugs (like double platinum plugs) have a platinum tipped ground strap for longer life. But pull the plugs first. You may just need to clean them up a tad and reset the gap.
