Default A/C Fixed but blows hot

Now that we are in the dog days of summer, I have decided to fix the A/C in our 97 2WD blazer. I knew there was a leak, so I loaded the system with stop leak and leak detector dye. Low pressure switch ($11) was replaced and the system now seems to be leak free and working. Compressor running, condensation on the accumulator as you would expect.

Confounded system still blows hot air, cool at first, but then hot once the thermostat opens. I am thinking heater valve or temp selector, which looks like a simple potentiometer to replace in the dash.

Any thoughts?

Alan

Sound like the blend door actuator...not as simple to replace as you might think but there are some shortcuts. Do a quick search here...plenty of threads on the topic.

Your paste didn't come out as a link but it looks like one of the 50 or so on the board. Although some guides call for removing the dash some of the guides show you how to do it by dropping the glove box. Don't quote me but I think I remember seeing something about being able to manually move the vent over to the A/C mode by going though one of the vents. Perhaps someone else could elaborate on that method. I've been fortunate in that It's one of the parts I haven't had to replace yet.

i have a 87 blazer k5 that i want to get running again and i want to strip everything that isnt absolutely necesary, just wondering if the main air compressor is essential to the car or if its just a luxury for the AC

You're not off to a very good start here..
Wrong forum and nothing to do with the thread you are in, besides.

How about going to the right forum and searching for 'compressor delete'
