a smell like maple suryp when a/c-heater turned on. does the 2000 Blazer have any filters that can be replaced in the air vent system? If not, what might be the source of the smell?

No filters. The smell may be the sweet smell of antifreeze. Check for leaks.

Thanks, I check it out. I won't ask the guy who told me there were filters in the system.

Maple syrup-like smell is almost always antifreeze. Likely a leak somewhere in the system, could be a heater core, could be a hose under the hood, or anywhere inbetween. Good luck tracking it down. As a last resort, pretty sure most shops can pressurize the system and find leaks, if you are unsuccessful.
