A/C high pressure quick fit connector leaks when I remove the gauge set

I have a 2000 Blazer with fairly low miles (99k) and I just did the intake manifold gasket (had slow coolant leak) and while I was at it, I also swapped out the spider with the new design one.
She's all back together and running good, but the AC was not blowing cold air. Turns out there was no pressure on either the high or low side. So using my gauge set, I added just over 1 can of R134 to get the following readings:

It was 85 degrees ambient and very humid, so that is in the ballpark I believe, and I'm getting nice cold air now.
Problem is, when I removed the quick connect from the high pressure sure, R134 was leaking (slowly) from the fitting. I guess that was the source of the leak in the first place. So I put the quick connect female back on and unscrewed the hose that went to the gauge set instead. So I have this now:

What are my options for a more permanent solution? I'd rather not replace the entire high pressure line. So I was wondering if anyone sells a quick connect "cap" I can just put on there as I really don't want to leave the one that came with my gauge set on there permanently, despite how cool it looks.

There should be a cap on the fitting but it is more of a dust shield than a pressure cap. You can try to replace the internal Schrader valve ***'y. I did run into this same problem last year on my 2000 Jimmy. I got about 1-2 days before it didn't work again. After trying the valve replacement, I ended up having to replace the High pressure line. It wasn't that bad a job. And only about 30 bucks as I recall. With no pressure in the system, you'll have to evacuate the system before charging it.
My plan for repairing is "Do it right and do it once"

I definitely agree with "Do it right and do it once". That said, I'm fixing up the Blazer to sell it, but I guess spending $26 delivered for this would be worth it.
I do have the dust cap, but I'm pretty sure that would not seal it.
Blazer sat for 26 month since I replaced the water pump (which did not fix the coolant leak) and it took me quite a while to get back to it.

Those GM AC service valves are well known for failing. Dorman makes a brass hex headed 'dust cap' that is designed to seal these failed valves. Not the best idea in my book, but might be worth a try at ~$10 ea.

You're welcome Pc. Let us know how it works out. My '95 H. side valve is leaking just enough to require a minor (<12 oz.) recharge about every 15 months or so (a dye test shows no other leaks). So, I figure if a Dorman 'cap' works, then great. And if it, or I, damage the valve/line during installation then I'll just do it right by replacing the line assembly followed by a system evac and recharge.

That valve will unscrew from the line. I just replaced mine about a month ago. But you will have to completely evac the system. Any parts store should have the valve in stock. but it will be something like this
