ok im pretty sure this might be a repost but i couldnt find a thread dealing with this specifically so i figured id post see if any of you guys had any ideas. i have a 2000 2dr rwd blazer and the a/c doesnt work at all. i think it leaks freon and the compressor just cycles on and off over and over again even right after a full charge. its really annoying since it gets hotter than hell here in fl. anyone have any ideas why it would do that?

evacuate the system . recharge with r134 including dye . check binary switch on reciever drier . check vacuum line to the vacuum canister mounted on the underside of the hood . if that doesnt do it , check your compressor. it might be leaking at the seal right in the middle of the compressorwich means you need a new compressor .

Hi all,

I'm in the process of changing the air con compressor in my '99 2dr and wanted to post a warning for anyone who finds themselves in the same predicament. Having just spent several thousand $$ on other repairs I decided to get the cheapest compressor I could find. Did a search on line and found a "Replacement" brand one (PtNo REPC191115) which claimed to be a direct replacement for my car. Long story short, it's not. I'll post the full story in a new thread, but just wanted to post this in a few existing threads so no one gets ripped off like I did.

Oh, and Dave, my old compressor failed exactly how you described above. The seal around the center of mine let go. Dye everywhere under a UV light.

can someone tell me where the vacuum line comes from that goes to the canister on the hood. my ac has the same issue, but nothing is plugged into the hood canister.
I just got my 97 blazer with 60,000 on it last week.

Thanks alot
guy
