Question A/C problem

hey guys. Ive searched the forums and found a lot of information about this problem but I still need help. My A/C isnt working and I was told that it was the "blend door actuator." I am not sure if it is the door actuator or if it is the temp actuator. I was wondering if there is a way to tell which one it is (if not both) before I start pulling parts. I think I pulled the door actuator? from a junk yard, it is circular shaped and has a medal rod sticking out of it. Thanks for any help guys.

Exclamation

i have a 99 LS 4x4 (automatic transmission)
My A/C wont engage and i have no check engine or service engine coming on.
i just bought this vehicle pretty cheap ($600) and am going through it to fix problems (and there are ALOT) but the A/C happens to be one of them.

is there a guide on where to begin?
my heater / A/C controller appears to work for redirecting air flow to all the vents.

thanks

Id say that if it wont even engage, you may have a problem with your compressor. so I would start from there, as to how to test it, I am not sure how. maybe call around to auto places and see how much just a diagnostic of an a/c system will cost ya. or maybe try buying some refrigerant and fillin some up and see if it will engage for just a little while, if it does finally engage, then you were out of refrigerant, and just fill it up only while the compressor is engaged, you'll get different gauge readings if not. also be sure not to over fill. keep us updated n well help as much as we can

hey i have a 98 LT and im currently dealing with the same problem but that actuator you bought sounds like the temp actuator. my problem is the blend door actuator its stuck on heat all the time. the blend door actuator is the only electric actuator in that system. it is located behind the glove box directly behind that round vacuum actuator. the blend door actuator has plastic gears inside that like to break so what i did was start pulling them from junk yards till i found one with gears intact
