a/c pump
so i fired up the a/c today after the winter. it engages for about 3-4 seconds and then turns off then in 3-4 seconds it will come back on.....is there any way to fix this like to replace the clutch because it is bador is it just time to put a new a/c pump on

RE: a/c pump
No, you don't need a new compressor..it's cycling on and off because it has a low charge...you have a small leak somewhere...get the leak fixed and evacuate and charge the system.

RE: a/c pump
a small leak and a low charge or could the freon just be low....i will get a charger with a gauge to see how it looks then

RE: a/c pump
yeah...ooooooook................A small leak is what caused a low charge.....that means that there is not enough (low charge) freon, and there isn't enough freon because it leaked out of the small leak. Do you understand now?

RE: a/c pump
yeah oooook i guess because you think i am a retard for asking about something i dont know about....so thanks for being so blunt.....but yeah got it

RE: a/c pump
No guy that's not how I meant it ...please don't take it personally, I guess that's my dry sense of humor...sorry if I offended you.

RE: a/c pump
ok got you man no harm no foul.....but i put a gauge on the a/c system and it was reading full then when the pump engages it shoots down to low or zero......i checked all the hoses and sprayed them down to check for any system leaks no luck.....do you have any suggestions for narrowing down where the leak might possible be? or would it just be best to take it to a shop

RE: a/c pump
You have a decentstandingpressure (Large line pressure)? And a decent suction (small line)?
#9
RE: a/c pump
ya the pressure is all good except for when the pump engages it shoots down....and after you shut off the car there is a slight hiss coming from the accumulator is that commen or not

RE: a/c pump
so could the problem be the hose assembly? if that was changed would the drier/accumulator have to be changed also....
