A/C rebuild
OK, First off sorry to bother I know that is has been covered before(just about everything else has) but I will be damned if i can find it. On a scale of 1-10 1 being easy and 10 being no no no nO NO NO!! how hard would it be to do a DIY rebuild of the entire a/C system(everything under the hood at least since I know the leak is not inside the car). My AC leaks and a recharge lasts about 4-6 weeks and I would really like to get it working again. I have put cans of dye into the system and i cannot find the problem and I have even taken it to a shop to check it out. They cant find the leak(s) and they changed the compressor on spec just in case it was that(cost me $400.00 +)
Any other AC tips on finding a leak would be appreciated as well. I suspect it is in an o ring someplace cause it will work and slowly warm up.
Again sorry to bother

A common place to leak, that is often overlooked, is the service port schrader valves. Looking for a leak with the hoses connected to the ports, will not reveal a leak. Very simple to test them. There must be pressure in the system, then remove the dust caps, put a gob of spit on each port, and watch for bubbles The high side port is serviceable separately, you don't have to replace the entire aluminum line. the low side valve core is also serviceable separately. It is a special valve, NOT a tire valve core.
