Default Camshaft sensor question?

I will be changing my CMP this weekend and I'm wondering about a couple of things. I found a post on CMP replacement and SwartLKK says to line up one the gates on the reluctor wheel with the boss on the sensor. How exactly do you do this? Do I have to turn the engine or something? I see how it can come out once I have the wheel in the right spot but I just don't know how to get it there. Also, am I going to have to go to the dealer to have a relearn or will the computer work it out? Thank you for any help.

Short bursts on the starter until it lines up should do it (that's how I did mine). It takes awhile.

Or

Remove a few spark plugs, get a wrench on the crank shaft by the harmonic balancer, and turn the engine by hand.

Or

Mark the distributor position so you can re-install it in the same position, then pull the distributor out (M10 bolt holds it in). This is the easiest way, but not for people who aren't comfortable with doing this.

OK, that was what I was thinking but just wanted to be sure. Will I need a dealer relearn or will the computer take care of it? Thanx for the response TMike.

Put the sensor in, and crank away. It's a hall-effect sensor, no programming required.
