i cant get the cap off of a 2001 blazer. i twist it to the right, then cant twist it anymore. i try to pull it off but that doesnt work. all the lettering on the cap is worn off.

 

ON COLD ENGINE, push DOWN on cap and twist to LEFT. A cap will actually feel as if it drops into a catch or notch after moving a little; move it a little more and LOOK at the notches on the NEW cap you ought to get before doing this. The new cap ought to show you what may be catching on yours.

 

The first time I pulled my cap, I noticed that it went very easy to the vent position (the first stop you come up to), then I had to push like heck and twist at the same time to get it off. I guess this could be thought of as a safety feature, but it is damn annoying.

 

See if you can look under it. You willl notice the tabs you must line up to remove it. Then proceed to what blazingsadle instructed.

 

How can I get the model number to the cap?
