Default center vents not working

If the center vents are not working, but window and foot vents are working on a 1997 blazer, is there a problem with the blower? No matter what I choose on the console, the windows vents work (unless I turn the fans off). The a/c and the blower seems to be working, just not coming out of the windows vent at all.

I am referring to the air that comes out of the vents inside the car. Which part is not clear?

I think there is a misunderstanding. The center vents clearly have a function. What I am saying is I never see anything blowing from them no matter what setting I use on the **** (windows, feet, face, defrost, etc...).
The center vents used to blow air fine and now they don't. That is my question.

Does the air come out of the other vents stronger or in a different location when the center vents are not blowing?

Could be a vacuum issue or a blend door issue. Any temperature control problems?

Yes, the air comes from the window and the foot vents when the center vents are not blowing. There are no temperature control problems.
Can you elaborate on the vacuum issue?

Thank you for your reply.

when you say window do you mean windshield? what about the ones on the front of the dash on the outsides? i had a similar problem that i didnt resolve until i replaced the heater core. i found one of the doors to be broken. i cant remember what exactly was happening. i think it always blew on the floor. it would switch between defrost and dash, but it would always blow on the floor too. if you cant get it to blow out of the dash i would say your actuator broke off the arm for the door, or the acctuator isnt working. do you hear any vacuum leaks. I dont know if any would work if you had a leak. you might be able to get a look through your glove box if you drop it down. im not sure what that one thats visible there is for. you can also kind of see (or feel) 2 more on the drivers side of the tranny well if you take the lower pieces under the dash off. See if you can figure anything out and let us know

Here is a stupid question, but have you verified that the vents are active? There is a toggle at each vent that allows said vent to be shut off. There is nothing else in the system that would differentiate between the outer dash vents and the middle dash vent. Well, at least nothing that is supposed to be there.

Has there been any dash work recently? Something that would have required the disconnection of the duct work in the dash?

And your original post was kind of run around-ish with you stating in one sentence that the center vents would not work, and another sentence that it was the outer vents...

Thank you all for the posts. I will try to answer the questions:

When I say window, I mean the vents by the windshield.
The vents on the sides of the dash do not work just like the dash vent at the center.
The vents are definitely in the position where they are supposed to blow air.
There has not been any dash work done recently.
I hope the problem description is clearer now. I will also try to see if I can figure out something by taking off the dash kick panels.
