Default Changing Fuel Filter on 2002 Blazer

Hi everyone. I am having a problem getting my 2002 Blazer to start and it looks like a fuel issue. The cheapest thing to try first is to change the filter. I was able to disconnect the lines on both sides of the old filter, but the filter is seated inside a wide black plastic ring that is also connected to a bracketholdingsome other lines on top.

For the life of me I cannot slide the filter out of the plastic ring. There does not seem to be any bolts or screws. Any ideas on how to get it out?

Thanks!

That plastic filter holder is a real pain. I think the first one I replaced on mine, I ended upremoving that bolton top of the ring you speek of. I think just looseningthe boltwill lighten its grip on the filter. Spraying the filter body and ring with WD-40 will also help. Mine gets a road grime coating that compounds the problem. Maybe someone else will chime in with a trick that makes it real easy.

The only other trick I have for you is to lightly coat the threads on the new fuel filter with some Anti-Seize compound before the re-assembly. It will make life sweet on the next filter change.................

Thanks for you help. It isn't the threads on the fuel line that is the problem. It is sliding the filter out of the plastic ring. I didn't feel a nut on top yesterday. I will try again and see if there is one there after all.

Yeah, it's a pain. I found that my channel-locks twisting while I pulled on the filter made it a bit easier. WD40 also helps a bunch. There should be a 10mm bolt up above the filter.
