Hey guys!
Long time no see. I sold my old blazer a long time ago, but today I saw a 2001 blazer being offered at $900. The only problem is that it has overheated and the current owner says his mechanic told him it was the head gaskets.
I've done head gaskets on a blazer before, but do you guys thinks it's worth it? What other things should I look out for?
Thanks

Get more details on the overheating; has it been driven since then?...check the oil for coolant. It maybe that the main bearings are toast if enough coolant got into the oil and displaced the oil around the bearings.
Ask the owner how much the engine has been ran since the overheating.
This could be just head gaskets or could be a new engine.
Offer accordlying.

if its just head gaskets then it might be worth the 900. but the rest of it has got to be in good shape. if the interior is falling apart, i would say 500. but thats only if it just needs the gaskets. if you do pick it up and do the heads, make sure that you get them surfaced and pressure tested. the head itself could be cracked. it will cost a few more bucks to have them pressure tested, but it could save your butt in the long run.
