Default Check Engine Light on OBD I

I've done my best searching for help, but haven't come up with much of an answer. Attempting to check the CEL code on my 95 Blazer. 95 is OBD I as far as I'm aware, so I assume there is a pedal trick or a paper clip trick, just need some guidance. Thanks in advance.

95 isn't obd1 nor is it obd2... It is a mix of the two, commonly referred to as obd1.5. It requires a special scan tool in order to read the codes. Advanced Auto or Autozone sometimes have the scan tool required to read your codes. I would check with them first.

I am able to read all of the codes on my 95 with an OBDII scanner. If there is a plug in front of your left knee under the steering column plug in the OBDII scanner there.

It was an in between year. Some of the systems are up to OBD2 specs, but not all of them. Most older OBD2 scanners can not read the codes properly from practically all 95 GM vehicles. Most of the newer scan tools now have the capability.

I tried an Innova 3030 OBD2 scanner with no luck. It gives me the Err1 signal. What code reader will work with 1995 Blazer?

MEGTOM,

But does your 95 an OBDll setup or OBD1.5????

Mine (95 GMC JIMMY manufactured date of 11/94) will not pull up codes from my older OTC OBDll scanner. It states "it can't communicate with the PCM."

I would go out and buy that scanner you have if I knew it would work on my 1995, OBD1.5 like Swartkl talks of.

I would bet if we had the diagram of the CDL of both OBD1.5 and OBDll we would be able to move the wires/pins around so it would work on OBDll????
