Take the belt off the alt and spin the pulley ,spin all the pulleys that ya can, it could be a bearing in the alt going bad. not exactly sure what kind of clicking your talking about though.. maybe an engine tick under the valve cover? take a long screw driver place it on diff items in the area ( not on moving parts though) and put the handle of the screw driver to your ear and listen for that clicking noise..be careful.....good luck

Or go to Harbor Freight or who ever & get a stethoscope for $5. But yeah, be carefull what you put it against. At least with the stethoscope you'll be facing/looking at where it's touching.

if it is under the hood, place a white mark on the belt at one place. Start the truck and see if the ticking seems to be in time with the white mark as the belts is spinning. If it is, try removing the belt and flipping it so it is actually revolving the opposite direction. Some belts will make a clicking sound as the seam on the outer covering comes in contact with a pulley. Flipping the belt may correct this.
