'Clunking' noise felt/heard after replacing front shocks.

I'm at a loss for what could be causing this but I can 'feel' and hear something 'clunking' in particular my left foot on the floorboard. It's a 98 Blazer LT 4x4 and I didn't have this problem with the old, worn out shocks. I replaced them last weekend and noticed and felt the new noise. All I took loose was the ABS line that's in the way when installing/removing the shocks. I read 54 lbs of torque on the bolts but I simply tightened them a little past 'snug'. There doesn't seem to be any problem from the right side, it's all on the left and nothing feels or appears loose. Any suggestions? Thanks! New to the forum and glad I found it because I was able to repair my overhead console with the info I found. (I'm going to check the hood hinges just to be sure...but I'm doubtful because there wasn't any noise with the old shocks. They were an off-name brand that weighed nothing and were totally gone. I felt like I'd bounce off the road sometimes because here in Missouri our roads are getting pretty rough. Replaced them with Rancho RS5000's and am loving them so far.) Have a great weekend everyone! I'll update any findings.)

Also recheck the shock bolts, top and bottom, and not just with the fingers. Use a socket and ratchet just as you did when you installed them. Sometimes when you jack the SUV up, it binds the suspension so that the new parts don't seat as they should. Then when you lower the vehicle back on the ground, the new part is loose even though it seemed tight when the suspension was up and compressed.
Also as Newguy said: check the swaybar bushings. That is the two bushings that hold the bar to the frame and the swaybar links on each end. The swaybar links are relatively inexpensive and often overlooked , even though they do go bad.

Thanks for the help. I first checked the hood hinges and it looks like someone has already added washers to fix that problem. Pulled my tires and re-torqued the shock bolts. I found the problem-my sway bar linkages were pretty loose. Tightened them up and no more noise! Thanks again!
