Default Cold air intake problem.

I just put in a new cold air intake on my blazer and when I started it ran pretty crappy. I plugged in everything and there are no leaks. What's going on??????Did I mess up a sensor or something when I did it?Thanks for the help.

We can guess that you have a 2000 Blazer from your user name, but we don't know what kind of CAI you installed and nobody watched you install it, so it's a little difficult to diagnose the problem. It's a pretty safe bet to say that something did not get installed correctly, though, since a CAI alone should not make the engine run poorly.

Snap a picture or two, also; did you install a heat shield? and is the intake a name brand or a knock off? if its a junk filter it could be causing trouble. get us some pics so we can exclude the obvious!

My setup looks exactly like the one shown on the picture. I unhooked the battery terminals for a little while and took it for a test drive( a couple trips of like 15 miles) and is not running bad after all. But this morning when I was driving to work the check engine light came on. Not sure why, anyone has any ideas? Are you supposed to let the computer know of the changes you have made or something???? I haven't scanned the code yet but as soon as I do I will post the results.

I checked the mass air flow sensor and I think put it the right way, with the arrow pointing towards the engine. Right?

If you took off the plastic intake that attaches to the throttle plate, did you reattach the breather line that goes from it to the passenger side valve cover?

Hahaha, I don't know if that is the reason but I know for a fact that I did not put that hose back. I remember playing with the intake a long time to get the fittings to fit nicely and completely forgot about it. That should probably fix it. Thanks a lot. I will let you know how it goes.
