Coolant Flush

Coolant Flush
Ok, so I need to do a few things to my 97 Blazer LT 4x4 4dr.
Needs fuel spider/regulator, and a heater core. Some questions I have are:
Are there any writeups for the 96 or 97 heater cores? There's a lot for 98+, but I've heard these are more complicated than the 97. Also, do I need to drain the coolant to replace the fuel spider/heater core, or could I just let out a little bit of it? Also, I've heard that if you do a radiator flush and fill on a vehicle with a lot of miles like mine (200k), that it will clean out the system so well it will start leaking everywhere, so would it be worth it to even bother with the flush and fill? Thanks.

On some of the 90's model blazers you have to take the dash completely off to replace the heater core. When I did my '95 I had to do this, but I did not have to drain any coolant from the radiator.

Hey! Yes the heater core job is VERY time consuming! There should be threads on this site.First time took me 12 hours, second took me 8! Some folks say they can do it in 4 hours, but I feel that they are leaving out at least half the fasteners to put the dash back together correctly! I have done it twice on a 96-I now own a 97 and all the procedures are the same-definiteley drain and flush the coolng system while doing this job! Perhaps will avoid intake issues later on! Best of Luck
