Default Coolant issue

Hey guys, I recently filled up my coolant reservoir a day or two ago. Then say I don't drive it at all for a day then I go to check the coolant, the reservoir is empty. Strong smell of antifreeze inside the car but no signs of leaks.

next step i would do is pull back the carpet on the front on cab floor. Check for wet floor and coolant. I am thinking maybe heater coil is leaking into the cab maybe. Just a guess because i am not sure where the heater coil is in the Blazers. That is where i would be checking next.

If there is a strong smell of antifreeze within the cab...then there is a leak; most likely the heater core. May not be dripping onto the carpet yet but suspect antifreeze within the housing.

I think the dash has to come completely out to access the heater core....I know that is what I did when I replaced the one in a '95 I had. Dash does come out pretty easy and quickly though.

Just a moment here. Are you saying you top off the reservoir and the Blazer sits without any use and when you check again the reservoir is empty, or did you drive it at all between checks? This will make a big difference trying to help from a distance. Agree with the heater core leaking if you drove it between checks.

I replaced my rad cap and my truck stopped spitting fluid out of the overflow for months, no antifreeze smell ever in the truck though.

however we are in a heat wave right now and I've noticed a couple times when parking the car that the reservoir is steaming and water in their is boiling, it has spit some out of the reservoir too.

when I fire it up it is 115C and then after running for a bit it goes down to 100C (dead middle of gauge)...

I figure I have crappy water in the reservoir and not full antifreeze with higher boiling point.

Yeah. A good flush would be good. Well glad it wasn't something more serious.
