Coolant Leak
Well I lost my last post about my 2002 Blazer LS about a coolant odor, well after my 400 + mile trip i noticed an odor of coolant near that back of my truck, assuming its coming from the exhaust...
does this narrow anything down to Intake manifold or head gasket? My oil looks fine...and no real lost of coolant, overflow is fine, radiator is fine, heats fine, but i do have that gurgling(sp?) sound behind my dash which everyone said is air..in the cooling system......so if i am really leaking coolant is slow.... Also I know no one can give me an exact price due to labor differances but what in general does it cost to replace a head gasket or an intake manifold gasket?

Unless its in the combustion chamber itself it wont come out of the exhaust, being you dont have milky oil, it might be a leak at the heater hose thats dripping onto the exhaust. Does your thermostat housing have an air bleed screw in it?
you can also burp the system by squeezing the upper radiator hose and leaving the cap off, while its running.
My 98' Blazer 4wd had a gurgling intermittant noise that turned out to be from the a/c heater core beneath the dash. It was rusty and leaked. You can prove it to yourself if you simply plug/pinch the a/c rubber hose fittings on the engine firewall side which will prevent coolant fluid from traveling through the firewall to the heater core. Turn on the a/c. The gurgling noise should stop. If this proves correct, your heater core is leaking beneath your dash along the lower a/c vents. Check for moisture and coolant smell below the center foot area. Either replace the heater core or disable the heater hoses for now. Good luck!
