Default Coolant leak & other ?? on 99 Blazer

Newbie here (and DH to help). We have a 1999 Blazer with with just under 101k miles. We bought it used from a GM Cert Dealer in 2004. We've already had a bunch of work done on it (like brakes, rotors, ball joint, etc.). Have a couple of things we're having trouble with and need some advice/ help.

1- There's a collant leak (where? DH will be finding out tomorrow) that "I" think is coming from the gasket. I didn't notice any leakage until I didn't get any heat from the heater! LOL How hard is this to fix? Details? Is it easier/cheaper to DIY or to pay someone to do it? How expensive is it, either way?

2- How in the world do you keep the spare tire arm from getting dented in where it connects to the passenger rear side? [:@]I HATE this!!

3- The spare tire arm has "dropped" down a little and makes it hard to open/ close the "gate"/arm. Any way to tighten that back up?

4- The drivers window gets stuck and I have to press my knee on the door to get it to work??? It'll work fine for a while but then all of a sudden will get stuck mid-way from either going up or down. Motor wearing out? Slipping? Loose bolt? I really hope this will be an easy fix though and one that we can do.

5- Do you all have a problem with the gas pedal being kinda hard to push and keep at one speed? Is there anyway to fix that?

6- Can you "fill up" the rear glass shocks? Mine are starting to lose pressure and sometimes won't stay up! Ouch! Ask my head if it hurt!! LOL

7- Even when I have my seatbelt on my seatbelt light flashes. Then when I tighten it around me it'll go off, but will come back on if I want to breathe! LOL How do I fix this?

Sorry for all the questions right off the bat, but you guys are pretty danged knowledgable on the Blazers!! LOL Hence a Blazer forum! LOL

TIA,
MountaineerMama & Splinterhands

1: ok, for the coolant leak, you say its coming from the gasket, your talking about the intake manifold gasket im guessing. it can be a difficult job but an expensive one if you have a dealer do it. you can do the lower intake gasket without taking off the upper intake. the gasket youll get is a two piece gasket. there isnt a gasket for the front and back, you have to use some RTV. if you do it yourself make sure you torque the bolts to spec and in sequence.

2: For the drivers window, if it is still going up and down you probably dont need a motor, what could have happened is the window regulator could be bent or broken. not too hard to fix. youll have to take the door panel off of course.

3: Your gas pedal. your throttle might be a little clogged, you can try taking some brake kleen and clean it out real good. take the throttle body off when you clean it.

4: You cant fill up the glass shocks, those are going to have to be replaced. im not sure how much those are. but easy to put in.

5: your seat belt. i forget what its called. i just put one in the other day in a range rover. the piece that the seat belt clicks into. you may need a new one. it has a sensor and its probably bad.

i hope this helped. good luck!

Your no heat issue is most likely a clogged heater core you can use a garden hose to reverse flush it. I have needed to do this twice, the second time I flushed complete system and switched to "green" coolant since the truck is now over 100K if I have to replace every two years then I can handle that, just don't need the long life DexCool clogging up my system because of an air leak at the gaskets or radiator cap. I am sure that I will eventually have to replace the core.

To reverse flush I made myself some small sections of garden hose with screw on fittings and connected them to the heater core at the firewall. I then attached the garden hose to the fitting nearest the valve cover or center of the fire wall, it is also the smaller of the two hoses (5/8in). Then turned on hose until it ran clear, if it is clogged you will hear a sudden rush of water before it runs clear. Then I moved the hose to the larger fitting adapter I made and ran the water in that direction until it was clear, then I went back to the smaller fitting and did that again making sure that the water was still clear...after that is done reconnect the heater hoses and refill radiator and warm up to operating temp so that thermostat is open and water is circulating with the radiator cap off. Top off until you are full, you might have top off a couple of times because of traped air in the system...as the engine warms up and the fluid level becomes higher the air can be sort of "worked" out...when you are done take any remaining coolant and fill the over flow tank to make sure that it is full at the hot level so that you don't take in air back into the system...

If your talking about not having heat then what 20blazer00 said is an easy and common place to start. but the coolant issue is for a leak, and flushing the heater core isnt going to fix any leaks. if you do the lower intake gasket then your probably going to end up needing to flush the heater core anyway though.
