2005 blazer 4x4 155,000 km .

need both diff fluids changed - with or without synthetic?
Also transfer case.

Like what we are talking gaskets, fluid and 2 hours labour?

I got quoted like $600+ seems outrageous?!

Also power steering flush? IS that something I can do?!

Thanks guys.

Parts & fluid wouldn't be more than $50 for both front and rear axle service. $600 is WAY out of the question.

For the power steering fluid, I use my power bleeder to suck the old fluid out of the reservoir making sure to not uncover the pump section and then fill it back up with fresh. Drive it for a bit and then do it again. If you introduce air into the pump by pulling out too much, it can cause the fluid to foam and be a pain to clear up.

i think the local dealerships here charge around $100 per axle for a diff service, and i would assume probably around the same for the t-case?

God that is what I was thinking, so bizarre his shop is usually quite good. thanks guys.. nothing wrong with using GM fluid that came with it, no need for the synthetic stuff?

Wow its that wasy just suck fluid out of reservoir(ps) down to almost the bottom of the unit then top back up. Drive and remove the same amount, top back up and call it a day? The cost of fluid is it eh?

THANKS EVERYONE!

If your 4WD has the 4 button switch on the dash, this stuff is mandatory for the transfer case, (no substitutions allowed). It is available at GM dealers only, requires about 2 quarts, at ~$9 per quart.

If you have the 3 button switch on the dash, it requires the same amount of DexronVI full synthetic automatic transmission fluid. Both differentials require SAE 80W90 fluid, (synthetic not required).
