Default Could the noise be the cv joint??

Just spent 100 bucks on a right front wheel bearing and unfortunately the vibration/grinding type noise is still there. When I bought the blazer there was really nobby tires on front and seemed like tire noise but with new tires and now a wheel bearing its gotta be something else. The noise seems to be coming from the right front. When I take a right turn the noise gets drastically better, when taking a left turn the noise/grinding type noise is the same or a little worse. What else could it be other than the CV AXLE JOINT???

Please Help!!!!!

Thanks,

Mike

I had 2 similar issues on 2 separate blazers;
1 was a bad CV axle
2'nd was a Brake Caliper issue.

Did a shop or dealer look at it yet ?

Default nope

How did you figure out it was the cv axle ?

I think I'm going to put mine on 4 jack stands and independently listen to each front wheel while running and see if I can trouble shoot the problem better. I don't think its a caliper cause my calipers and rotors and pads look really good.

I thought the cv axles just clicked, mines definitely a hum/vibration/grinding noise. It might be the c.v. joint because my boot was off the joint, I put grease in the boot and re-clamped it on the joint. But again I thought the joints just clicked.

Default Found out 4 x 4 is out

AFTER PUTTING THE CAR UP ON 4 JACKS AND PLAYING AROUND A BIT i FOUND OUT THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE IS OUT. WHEN I PUT IT IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE I HEAR THE CLICK IN THE TRANSFER CASE BUT NOTHING ENGAGES. THE VIBRATION I WAS GETTING SEEMED TO IMPROVE AFTER TURNING THE 4 WHEEL ON/OFF SEVERAL TIMES. SO I'M GUESSING SOMETHINGS BUSTED AND THE VIBRATION IS COMING FROM WHAT EVER IS BROKE WITHIN THE 4 WHEEL. ANY HELP WITH THE NEXT THING TO CHECK IS APPRECIATED, I'M COMMITTED TO GETTING THIS 2001 BLAZER FIXED AND IF NEED BE I GOT A PARTS BLAZER BEHIND MY GARAGE.

THANK YOU

MIKE

Mike,
If the CV boot was off, sounds like someone replaced the original boot with one of those clamp-on ones that just do not work. I suggest replacing the right CV axle.

Now reading this and your other posting, it could be that the sliding coupler that engages the right front wheel when 4wd is selected could be messed-up....technical term there.....or is not fully engaging.

Read my other reply in your other posting and go from there.
