Default Bad noise Bad! Possible U Joint Problem.

Hello everyone! I am new to the forum, and fairly new to auto maintenance. I have a 1998 4X4 Blazer that I really enjoy. It has been making a noise that is a low pitched grinding/growling coming from the rear end. It normally happens at low speeds when I am accelerating. As I give it more power the noise eventually goes away. I have had the car for 5 years, and haven't had much done to it except changing the oil regularly. I just got a grease gun to try to grease the U Joints, but have discovered that they don't seem to have zerk fittings. I guess this is because they are the original U joints?

Is there any other way to lubricate these joints, or do you guys have any other ideas what might be going on here? I am also getting ready to change the differential oil, since it hasn't been done for a while.

Any help on this would be great.

Thanks

Im pretty green... but i do know for sure the original ujoints cannot be greased... also, they do not have retaining clips like you would expect to see... the retainers are internal and made of plastic... so they are melted out. There's youtube videos on it. Hope this helps... good luck!

to check u-joints, just lay underneath it and grab the driveshaft by the u joint and try and move it up down side to side as hard as you can if you have any play in that u-joint it needs to be replaced.

let me know what you find out.
