Ok I have a 96 'high rise' s15 jimmy . I have 3 questions for starters,

1 check engine light randomly comes on I had it scanned and the results were p040 evap system and p0700 transmission control system. It does shift hard between 1st and second 2nd.

2 daytime running light issue. When the relay in the glove box is plugged in I have daytime running lights on, when I turn the headlights on I hear the crazy squeeling sound coming from that relay box in the glove. with the relay removed I only have 1 high beam. The bulbs are all good and high beams both work with relay plugged in. Any ideas how to get this working normally?

3 4x4 related question. When I was stuck on an icy rd I stopped put the truck into 4 whl high and nothing happened. It sounded like it shifted, indicator lights all lit but no front wheel movement. After I backed down the road turned around to go a diff direction, after going about 100 ft the 4x4 kicked in and worked. It did not go off when the button was pushed though. Now when I try to use it, it sounds like it shifts, lights light up but no wheel movement. Where should I start looking?

Those codes are meaningless since they are not complete. Check out the DTC section of the Tech Article (DIY) section for a listing of codes that have been posted.

As far as your headlights & DRLs go, have you tried replacing the relay?

There are many posts on 4wd issues. Check the link in my signature for some ideas.
