Default CPI Intake

The 4.3 changes confuses the crap out of me.... I have a 95 W motor, CPI. I was wondering if all of the CPI Intakes, the ones that look like the LS1's, are all cast the same. The reason I am asking is because I already know I have the wrong heads on my motor, now I am wondering if the intake needs to be replaced as well. I understand that the 95' was a particular year with the heads, is it the same for the intake as well?

I guess what I am asking is if the intake has to be from a 95 as well or will any of the CPI Intakes work?

Not sure what you mean by wrong heads.
However, GM switched the way the intake bolts align with the heads. You need to make sure your intake to head bolt holes are the same.

The heads that were on the motor are casting 14099064, these heads came off a 92-93. The previous owner that I bought it off cheap said that the coolant kept dissapearing and it smoked. I was told that the only two heads that would work on the 95' are castings 10238181 or 10240209, is this correct?

Have a jimmy of that vintage, have not checked part numbers but am very sure these things are one or two of a kind motors and you'll find parts like heads and intakes not interchangable with other models. Its a great motor when it runs right and will leave many 305's in the dust in camaros of the same vintage. As far as working on it, you're well of following the exact information available and not assuming ANYTHING. At least so far, this has been my experience.

In the intake of a 4.3 and at the very back, on either side, there are block off "plates" (gaskets-thin aluminum) have you checked the intake and the installation??

On the heads there are two open ports in the back, but on the Intake there are no ports at all. When I removed the intake I noticed the gaskets had open ports in them. I had a 90 model 4.3 and I remember the intake gaskets didnt have open ports in them...could this guy have used the wrong gaskets?

Other than that I dont really know what you mean by block off plates, unless you mean the gaskets without the rear ports.
