Default Cracked block

Hello All,

I first want to say thanks to all the info I have learned from all of you, I have been lurking for years and without all the info I would still be holding a wrench and looking at the engine.

I have a problem maybe someone can help me. My current wife (3rd) was driving one of my blazers, 1995 4x4 4door, she said she heard a clicking sound and then a loud pop and then the car died all the engine oil came out. I tried to see if the rod cracked the block and it was not visible. So I put some oil in it and it leaked out from the transfer case, so I am thinking its cracked above the transfer case. The truck does not turn over at all just a click. Sounds like stick a fork in it?

Regards Mark

First need to determine if the engine is seized. Using a socket & ratchet on the crankshaft bolt: Try to turn the crankshaft clockwise at least one full revolution.

justmodit: you stated that engine oil leaked out of the transfer case??...did you mean transmission??
Assuming that the oil leak is on the back of the engine: rear main seal, rear of intake....could be several things.

Would you be doing the work or take it to a shop? As it probably not worth taking to a shop to R&R the engine, could likely get another vehicle for a few $$$ more.

Let us know what you find out.
