cv axle removal
I have a 1998 Blazer 245000 miles almost broke in. I am rebuilding the front end ball joints wheel bearings tie rods and so forth.
All is going well but i cant get the drivers side axle out of the differential . what is the secret i assumed it would just slide out.

I never done a cv axle on a blazer but I have done them on other cars and usually I get them out by getting a pry bar and putting it between where the axle meets the diff and moving the pry bar back and fourth until it comes out hope this helps

Just did my driver side ball joints 2 days ago, get a punch/drift and tap on the metal section of the axle closest to the differential. Tap out towards where the wheel was, you might have to hit it pretty good, 2-3 good hits will have it moving out nicely. There is a clip on the inside of the axle which holds it in. A pry bar/pickel fork/tie rod seperator will work as well, and pry between the differential and the axle.
When reinstalling the axle make sure you hear and audible click. You have to push it in with some force so the clip on the end of the axle will snap back into where it came out of.
