Default Dead climate control module..?

Hi folks. I've just 'inherited' a 2001 Blazer with a few issues. The one that's puzzling me most is that nothing relating to the climate control works. The heater doesn't work, the fan doesn't blow, the aircon is inoperative and the rear demist is non-existent. Basically the "Computer Climate Control" seems to be doing absolutely nothing. I thought it must be a fuse, but I've been through the fuse boxes and can't find any dead ones. I've also taken the module out and had a look inside in case there was an internal fuse that was blown. There isn't and everything looks fine - no signs of loose or burnt components. The small lamps that illuminate the module are also all okay. I've tested the plug that goes into the back of the module and some of the pins seem to have voltage, so it appears to be getting some power. Am I to conclude that the climate control module is totally dead, or is there something obvious that I'm missing? I'd be surprised if the whole unit has gone west and I would have though that at least something on it would still work (e.g. the rear demist). Any advice would be appreciated.

Oh, and to muddy the waters further, the existing unit is marked "RH drive" (see photo), as it's fitted to a UK right-hand drive car. Do I need to find a replacement RH drive unit or will any unit do? I can't see how having the steering wheel on the other side would make a difference to the heater !

Cheers,
Lee

A RH drive heater !?!

There are 5 fuses and one ground to check before condemning the the HVAC module:

HVAC 30A UHFB
HVAC1 fuse 21 IPFB
RDO Batt fuse 19 IPFB
Ign E 10A UHFB
A/C 10A UHFB

Ground on C10/black.

Let me know if you need any help checking these.

Many thanks George Sorry for the late reply. I checked all the fuses and eventually bit the bullet and ordered a second-hand climate control model (found one in Lithuania of all places !). I've just plugged it in and all functions appear to work, so it must have been the chip in the original module that was fried. Fingers crossed that this one doesn't burn out too. Cheers, Lee.

I'm on a second unit myself, I picked this one up a few years ago from a scrap yard... luckily it has lasted... fingers crossed

Been trying to get a hold of one to sit on the shelf as a spare, but that has been proven difficult...

Hi George!
I have the same problem with my 98 Blazer LT 4x4. All fuses in both panels underhood and side of dash prove to be ok but still no power to the Auto Climate Control unit. Did I check all the ones you listed? Not sure where to check that ground though. Thanks!

With the engine off and key out of the ignition back probe C10 and the battery negative post and read resistance (ohms). Then with the ignition on and attempting to turn on the HVAC module same two measurement points but read dc volts on the lowest scale.

George-

Hey I wanted to thank you for the reply! I tested those two points and all was good. I located a unit #15756179 with a manufacture date of 9/2000(original was 15756178 11/1997) and it works great!
All is working well, fingers crossed thanks again!

Jim
