Replacing fuel pump under warranty on 2000 Jimmy. Delphi FG0052 purchased 10 years ago, lifetime warranty. Looking at the Napa website there are notes about with or without check valve....see screenshots. Was never a question when I bought the fuel pump 10 years ago. Is it fine to replace with same FG0052? How do you know if it originally had check valve?! It also says strainer is inside, but the pump I removed has external strainer on bottom. So confused!
I'll have to get the FG0052 since that's what has been in my Jimmy and is under warranty. Just wondered if something had changed in the last 10 years. What's funny is Amazon says neither fit my Jimmy but I know they're not experts 😂
Just ran across this part which might answer the riddle. Appears to be an optional check valve you can install in-line. Maybe this would affect the fuel pump's built in check valve,
so the alternate pump has no internal check valve? If that makes sense 🤔
I was about to ask what the purpose of the check valve is but I suspect ferret13sj is correct.
I must be an upgrade that was used on later Blazers and is backward compatible. Here is what I found at RockAuto when I looked up pumps for my 1999 Blazer.
The application table for the FG0287 says it is for 98 and up:
DELPHI FG0287 Fuel Pump & Housing Assembly

GMC JIMMY 1998-2004
