yes you heard me right i have a 2000 blazer 4.3 and the balance shaft is making noise. has any one ever took off the gear and left it in to disengage it? i heard they only put it in to make it a lil more smoother for more sales. iv driven in one with out a bs and it is damn near identical. so yay nay? any input is awesome thanks!!!

 

If you leave the shaft in there it should still keep oil pressure. If the engine is out you can pound a freeze plug in there to plug the oil passages and be done with it.

 

i was just gonna leave it in and just pull the pulley should i be fine? i know it might be a rougher idle i just want the noise gone!

 

I don't see why it would be a issue. See what others have to say as well.
