Do I need a new FI Spider?

Do I need a new FI Spider?
Hi,
Hopefully someone can help me out on this forum once again. My 98 has a slight miss/stumble that is intermittent, but most noticeable between 45-60 mph. No codes are thrown, it starts easily and generally still runs fine. I've done some searching around here for ideas, and it sounds as though folks with similar symptoms fixed this through the spider replacement. Anyone confirm the symptoms before I drop a couple hundred bucks on a new spider?
Thanks in advance.

RE: Do I need a new FI Spider?
My 95 started out like that (the miss/stumble at around 45mph), then got worse as time went by. Then it got hard to start, rough idle and still missed/stumbled at around 45. I took it to a couple different mechanics and they all said it was the spyder, but before I dropped that kinda money into it, I got on here done some research and came up with the idea of the Fuel Pressure Regulator. The FPR is about $45 (better than the $300 for the spyder), so I figured I'd give it a shot since it was much cheaper and it fixed everything. It took about 2 hours to take everything apart, replace the FPR and put everything back together. But I am no mechanic, someone with more knowledge about vehicles could probably do it in an hour or less. Anyway hope this helps!!

At this point, there's just not enough information to declare the spider at fault. I would clean the EGR valve and MAF sensor, then do a fuel pressure test and let us know the results. There are still other avenues to approach.

Thanks. I've tested the fuel pressure in the garage and it is fine at idle and WOT. I haven't been able to have a fuel pressure guage hooked up while the problem occurs. I'll see if I can figure out a way to try that. The MAF looks real clean, but I'll get some cleaner and try to clean it and let you know.

how long on the 'standard' tune-up items(ie plus, cap, rotor, fuel filter, air cleaner, wires)??Just a thought-possibly money well spent. Jerry PS maybe I missed the fact that you did them(tune-up) in a previous post but I haven't the time presently to go back and check a previous post.

Update
Just in case someone has similar problems. It turned out to be a little low on ATF, I've never had a tranny slip feel like an ignition/fuel miss before. Anyway, easy fix. Flushed and filled the tranny and its running good as new.
