Default Does 1996 Blazer have anti-theft?

I have been having problems with my 1996 Blazer (Jimmy actually). Once in a while, it decides not to crank. Battery is fine, wont jump start.....nothing. I was wondering if it might be the anti-theft system. I have had this problem on other vehicles. I looked at the wiring at the key switch, there are 2 small gage wires coming from the tumbler area (one green and one brown).

Does anyone know if this could be for anti-theft, or better yet, how to bypass?

Those wires are just for the key buzzer if I recall.

I would bet it's the ignition switch being the issue.

Starter solenoid(on the starter) maybe?

Did it used to have an alarm installed? Could be an issue with the starter relay for the alarm.

woohoo, post 1,000!!!!

+1 on everything Diaita said.

A 96 Blazer for sure does not have a factory anti-theft system. I'm pretty sure that they didn't start coming from factory until '98.

Thanks for the help guys.

No, I did not install any alarm systems.
Must be the starter. Its just kind-of strange that it restarted just fine the next day. Its been fine for over a week now.

I had to change my ignition switch the other day because of random no-starts, engine quitting and random electrical issues.

I'd check for power to the starter relay(small wire on the starter) before you replace the starter. Is there any clicking when you try to start it? Do the lights dim?
