E Brake doesnt hold for 1000 RPM test

Default E Brake doesnt hold for 1000 RPM test

98 S10 blazer, recently replaced all four brake rotors and pads DIY, disengaged the Ebrake to remove rear rotors. Now find out at state emission inspection the Ebrake doesnt hold for 1000RPM. Is there a simple way to adjust with the equalizer or does that simply adjust cable tension. Ebrake pedal does move freely and releases. Expecting that I missed some step to reset ebrake tension as part of replacing my rear rotors. Hope to avoid removing rotors, inspecting ebrake drum pads, etc if not necessary. Also they are $$$..

I think you will have to go back and remove all down to the e brake shoes. I can't remember the last time I ever touched an e brake cable (unless to replace). If you have new rotors, that is a great start(in other words a great,clean, mating surface). Make sure the inner surface is clean(on the rotor-no grease). Make sure the E brake shoes are good. Sand them to rough them up. Blow out. Adjust the lower adjuster, each side. Make sure the adjuster turns free..If you have to- you may have to remove them and free them-possibly with heat. When re-installing e brake shoes, make sure they slide into the upper clip-carefully bend it in if you have to making sure the e brake shoe is tight against the brake plate-no 'chatter' and it seats correctly into the adjusters. When free (they may be already)..adjust out 5 or so 'clicks' while sliding the rear rotor over them until the slightest of drag..done do both sides. You can even try the e brake while vehicle is up in the air to kinda confirm that it is better than before. Wheels on, drop to ground, try it-should have it..Jerry
