Default egr hose ???

when i first got my 97 blazer there was a rubber hose that had been crimped and the guy said his mechanic told him that was the reason for the check engine light. well, i had the truck in a local shop replacing the water pump for me and they hooked it up to check y the engine light was on and the tech said it was because this hose had been crimped. he straightened it out and the light went off. well since then this hose has been replaced twice because it i guess is getting hot and causing it to crack. i was told the hose is an egr bypass hose. is there any reason it keeps getting too hot and cracking? is there a fix for it? if needed i will take a picture and post it doesnt sound right. any help would be appreciated.
thanks

If exhaust gas passes thru it, it'd better be metal. If it's a rubber one coming from the air pump to the exhaust manifold I'd say the check valve on that side is bad allowing exhaust gas to come back thru it.

If the hose is burning all the time, tell the idiot to clean/or replace the the secondary air injection check valves and us some high temp blue silicon hose instead of 5/8 or 3/4 vacuum hose with worm gear or t-clamps not the spring crap gm put on these vehicles!

Post the pics.

Sorry about the rant my 2000 is f'ed up right now too,
Brian

wonder what hose they're talking about as 97's don't have air injection systems. Jerry

Ah, there's what I wondered... I didn't know if the AIR system started in '98 or earlier.
