Default EGR Removal-Cleaning-Refit-Replacement

Hi, I've had a quick look through the (extensive) list of posts regarding the EGR valve but need to ask again !
I've got a check engine light with an EGR code which appears again within a few minutes of clearing it, so I'd like to know, where it is located and how easy it is to get out, test, clean and replace if nescessary.

Thanks

And you are driving??? Details... You should post your vehicle information regardless, but in this case, this post covers all 2nd gens up to the mid-02 change:

EGR Valve Cleaning

As far as how to test it... What is the code? (again with the details)...

I thought my vehicle details appeared with the post anyway, but it's a 1999 Blazer LT with the V6. It's RHD and UK spec but I don't think that matters much for this.
The trouble code is P1404.
But when I looked, I guess the thread is partly redundant since I think the EGR is looking straight at me when I open the hood !
The moral being, don't make a post late at night after a few beers without looking at the vehicle first !
But any ideas on cleaning, rather than replacing it would be welcome

Thanks
