elec pwr off and on - dies if going slow or stopping
Please help. I thought my alternator was dying, so I replaced it. I have checked all of the connections (3) on the ground wire after removing battery. The guages and all power dies and comes back instantly. Its so quick it is like the guages bounce all the way off and then back. If moving slowly the blazer will die, and has to be jumped to restart. Just got it running and left it going for about a half-hour. Turned it off and when I turned the key back on, it was acting possessed. The back hatch kept actuating, and guages, chimes, and warning lights were not really working but kind of flickering and buzzing. No power to restart.
Blazer is an '01. Battery came with the vehicle when I bought it in '04. I could certainly try a new one. You think it could be causing the power to drop and instantly come back like it has been showing my inst cluster? Also, thank you very much for helping.
The batteries in these trucks seem to like to corrode inside the battery behind the positive post. They may look great, but when loaded up (starter), they will not pass the current. I would definitely try a new battery if the battery is of unknown origin. Four to five years is about the life of a battery.
