Default Electric Park Lock

I own a 2001 Jimmy 4x4 with automatic shifter on the floor. My problem is that it will not come out of park, I searched on this forum half the night for a solution and found a mention to an electric park lock. Would this be my problem and how difficult to fix. Thanks

Could be a wiring problem, could be part of your brake switch, could be the solenoid on your shifter. Check the B/U LP and BTSI fuse in the underhood fuseblock. On your shifter is two solenoids with a 3 wire connector going to them. BLK is ground, LT GRN/BLK and DRK GRN/WHT have power when you turn the key on. When you step on the brakes the DRK GRN/WHT will lose power. You can check that with a test light and check continuity on the solenoids with an ohm meter.
