Electric squeel when braking
Recently ran into an issue where my brakes are making an electric grinding noise when I brake and not working. This does not happen every time but is happening more and more often. Recently they completely locked up at one point. Looking for cost estiamates to repair on own and at a mechanic.
Somewhat common for the caliper pistons to get stuck; best solution is to just get rebuilt ones and replace them. Can get them loaded (with pads) or unloaded (no pads). Pretty easy to do, just need to be careful to get the calipers on the correct wheel. Remember the bleeder screws are always on top, never on the bottom.
Check prices at RockAuto.com and your local parts store. Will also need a quart of brake fluid. Also check the condition of the flexible brake lines. If swollen or have a soft area, will need replaced.
Good luck.
