Engine change (lengthy)

Newer fullsize trucks have a returnless system, but the spider should be essentially the same. You should be able to install an FPR and reuse your top-of-engine feed & return lines.

2005 Silverado 4.3L - replacement spider assembly from ACDelco.com PN 217-1516
2001 Blazer 4.3L - replacement spider assembly from ACDelco.com PN 217-3252 (kit PN 217-3028)
2003 Blazer 4.3L - replacement spider assembly from ACDelco.com PN 217-1516
That is quite odd. I know a few people that have used the newer PN spider without issue, but ACDelco.com shows two PNs for the two different year ranges (96 thru mid-02 and mid-02 thru 05).
I believe that all s-series blazers had a return style system. I do not believe that they changed anything in the last few years of production. The system was likely modified for the fullsize trucks because the rest of the engines used returnless systems.

fuel line/return line
thanks for the info again. The newer has a different type FPR. I will install and run like it came from the truck. The pcm is being reprogrammed to operate as an 05 returnless system. I will vent the vehicle return line with a differential vent. that new style FPR does not have the vacuum nipple on it. thanks again

Your fuel pump may not be compatible when run as a returnless system.
Also, you will get an EVAP code if you vent the return line to the tank.
Just install a new FPR and reuse your lines.

the 05 FPR is part # 25342745. It is not the same as the FPR on the 01 spider. What FPR will replace 25342745 (no return) type? This so it will operate on the 01 fuel pump. thanks
however, if i take the return line blank out of the assembly, my return will fit into the 05 assembly as it should. That way the return is connected to intake. That only leaves the issue if the 01 pump will push enough for the 05 spider to operate. I plan on calling chevrolet to see what is the easiest remedy.

An FPR for your truck should mount right into the later fuel metering body. The body didn't change from '98 thru end of production.

update, the 01 is running with the 05 truck engine. ECM was reset to delete the smog pump and egr. No SES lights. THe knock sensor bolted with out any major issues. The 05 injectors swapped for the upgrade from the poppet style. So, all is ok for the moment.
