Default Engine Miss 2002 4.3 2wd

Had complete tune-up 30,000 ago including cap, rotor, wires and all filters. Ran very nice until Thursday evening. I went out to warm up and when I came back 5 min later engine had died. Restarted but ck engine light flashing and no power
Put scan tool on and it had set #2 cyl miss. Ck comp 175# plug was fouled an wire did not ohm correctly. Replaced plug, wire, and still misses. No EGR on this model. Looking to replace cap & rotor next. No overheating or coolant loss so ruling out intake gasket. Anyone had problem with purge valve on left side of intake? Open for any suggestions. Also cked comp on #1 & #4 both at 175. New plug shows no sign of fouling but have only driven 1-2miles. HELP!!!

These things really need AC Delco ignition parts, (cap, rotor & plugs). Wires need to be good quality. Injector balance test will check for a restricted or inoperative injector. Fuel pressure leakdown test will check for a leaky injector. Canister purge valve will affect all cylinders equally, as well as TPS, MAP, MAF, oxygen sensors etc so you can rule those out. You're looking for something that will affect only #2 cylinder, plug wire, injector, valve train, etc.

Thank you for your reply, I found the problem yesterday and fixed it by replacing the cap & rotor. BTW it was an AC Delco cap & rotor that failed after 10,000 miles. I replaced it with the top of the lineNAPA so I hope it turns out to be better quality. Again thanks for your help

Glad you got it figured out. What was the problem with the AC Delco cap & rotor? They're usually good for 100K miles, unless there's a problem with an open plug or plug wire. If NAPA still uses brass terminals, (sign of low quality) better cross your fingers. Make sure you use silicone dielectric grease on each terminal, inside and out, of the cap.
