Engine shuts off at speed . . .
I've no doubt this problem has been discussed here, but can't find any threads.
I replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, and injector spider on my '96 Blazer. These repairs solved all problems I was experiencing. Since then, I've noticed two new problems. First, the engine will often idle very roughly when started cold. The idle will smooth out quickly as the engine warms. Then, it will stumble off-idle, occasionally feeling as if it will stall, but that has only happened once. Then - and far more annoyingly - once the engine is fully warm, it will completely shut off for just a moment when you reach cruising speed and back off the pedal. I can predict almost to the second when it will occur if the cruise control is set. It will be at the precise moment when the car no longer needs to accelerate to maintain speed up a hill and the vacuum increases - I can see the crest of a small hill and know that the engine will shut off entirely when I reach it long enough to see the tach start to drop, but then it starts running again.
Not only is it annoying, but I'm concerned that the auto transmission is being hammered as a result of this. Suggestions, please.
