Default Engine stops after installing trailer wire harness

Getting my Blazer trailer ready. Just installed the receiver hitch.
I'm having some issues with the wire harness. After installing the wire harness, I plugged in a tester unit, and run the light to make sure it was wired correctly.
I then tried to drive it around, and the engine would keep stopping on me. Engine RPM would run low, lights would dim, and AC compressor would start and stop constantly.
It's definitely an electrical issue, but I don't know why the wire harness would cause it. I confirmed this by removing the wire harness and ran the engine again and everything felt fine. Getting correct voltage and all.

In the below photo, I twisted the corresponding wires together (trailer harness on the left; vehicle harness on the right)
Green, brown, yellow, white. I also have a light blue and light green on the vehicle harness. I ignored those and taped them off because I'm just installing the 4-pin connector.
The one thing that threw me off is that the white wire on the vehicle is a much thicker gauge of wire than the trailer harness I have. Could this be the issue?
Another anomaly I should point out is that the green wire on my trailer harness has a yellow stripe, and the white one has a brown stripe. Not sure if that would mean anything.

What kind of tester unit are you using? Wondering if it's just giving some strange feedback to the computer through the ground circuit and causing the issue? Did you try actually just hooking a trailer to it?

Sounds like you got your wiring right.
  • Dark Blue: Use for electric trailer brakes or auxiliary wiring (eight-wire harness only).
  • Red: Use for battery charging; it connects to the starter solenoid (eight-wire harness only).
  • Light Green: Back-up lamps.
  • Brown: Taillamps and parking lamps.
  • Yellow: Left stoplamp and turn signal.
  • Dark Green: Right stoplamp and turn signal.
  • White: Ground wire.
  • Light Blue: Auxiliary stoplamp.

This here is what I used. I don't have a trailer with me to test it. Ran the lights without the engine on and it shows the circuit is working fine.

So guys, this turns out to be a fluke.
I was in the garage trying to make a quick video on how the Blazer behaved with and without the wire harness, and I can't reproduce the problem.
She actually does run fine with the wire harness attached, and I've confirmed that the circuit is working.
I have no idea what I did last night to get the before-mentioned behavior, but she's okay now.
So, abandon thread I guess.

Oh one more question, is "short-starting" a thing? Like when you go to turn the key over to start the engine and it doesn't feel like it started all the way but the engine is running?
That's how my Blazer felt last night. The reason why it keep stopping over and over is because (I think) I never shut the Blazer off completely when the engine did cut off.
I just turned it from RUN to BAT, then back to START again without turning anything off just to get the engine going again. I did that about 6 times last night.
So, I think this is an issue related to something else.

I brought this behavior up before in this thread I need to revisit:
https://blazerforum.com/forum/2nd-ge...ut-off-102149/

In that thread I thought it was possibly a mechanical problem. After experiencing this I now think it's electrical.
This kind of thing only happens once in a blue moon.
