Default erratic dome lights? wtf?

ok so i when i got the blazer i noticed none of the interior lights were working. i checked the fuse panel and someone had pulled the fuse. i put it in and at first it seemed to work fine but, then it started coming on so i thought maybe my door wasn't shut. i pulled the door inward and it went off for the second i had it pulled but as soon as i let go it came back on. i didn't get a chance to pull the door panel yet and try and find a short but i wanted to see if this was a common problem. anyone else experience this? it'd be nice to have some interior lighting at nite.

What are you driving? Year matters when talking about the door switches.

Sounds like your door switch isn't properly opening up when the door closes which should be a fairly simple fix.

Got the same thing in my 95. Seems to happen on cold days when I hit bumps. On a bumpy road it looks like I have a strobe light in the cab. My door pins are shot and Im assuming it has something to do with the door vibrating around.

In a '98, you could have the door pin in the side of the dash, or it could be part of the latch assembly itself. Check on the side of the dash first.

As far as worn hinge pins causing this - they sure could if they were worn bad.
